A series of premium ceiling fans with signature blades for optimum airflow and a contemporary aesthetic, designed for the Indian brand Crompton. 

 

Ceiling fans are a common necessity in a tropical country like India, occupying a prominent space in every home. However, there has been little to no change in the fan’s design in recent years. Our approach was to transform the existing, engineered look of the ceiling fan into a modern yet functional home appliance that fits in with the decor of the modern Indian home.

 

We conducted extensive research in five cities, covering 35 Indian homes, 5 interior design studios, more than 15 retail outlets, and appliance dealers. We personally interacted with users to understand their concerns and motivations, as well as with retailers and manufacturers to understand their strategies, and then condensed that information into a concise analysis and insights.

 

The fan’s design is inspired by natural flora, which is reflected in the organic, fluidic shape of the blades, which are streamlined for increased airflow. The fan has an adjustable canopy and can be easily mounted on a variety of ceiling types. As an additional ambient light source for the room, the fan includes an LED lamp.
