A versatile cooking appliance which uses thermoelectric heating to cook different types of food using steam.
MoMo is an interactive food steamer which is based on the Peltier effect. Food steaming is one of the oldest and most healthy ways of cooking which retains the essential nutrients in food. It can be used to cook a variety of food like dimsums, rice, meat, fish in Asian cultures. Peltier modules can heat upto 220° C which is perfect for steaming application.
The Peltier effect is a temperature difference created by applying a voltage between two electrodes connected to a semiconductor material. This phenomenon is used to transfer heat from one medium to another on a small scale.
Inspired by this phenomenon, I decided to harness this heat generated by the peltier module for making a cooking appliance. The aesthetics of the product have been influenced from traditional asian sensibilities and also reflect the values of simplicity, cultural heritage and sustainability.
